Students attend National DTC conference

Two Students from the Centre have attended the Inter-Disciplinary Inter-DTC ([ID]2) conference at the University of Oxford to present posters and take part in a talk.

The conference welcomes students on DTC programmes from across the country to immerse themselves in the emergent community of interdisciplinary researchers in the quantitative life sciences and provides an opportunity for students to share their cutting edge research with peers while building long-lasting networks of like-minded scientists.

Gareth Morgan presented both a poster and a talk about his research on DNA based computing entitled "Can DNA help to revolutionise the way we process information?” and Dan Jenkinson presented a poster about his research towards developing dyes for super-resolution microscopy entitled "The synthesis and photophysical analysis of novel dyes used for Stochastic Optical Reconstruction Microscopy (STORM).”

Dan won second prize in the poster competition and said “It was a definite surprise, especially as the quality of some of the other posters was so high! The poster seemed to attract a lot of attention - it was great that people seemed to be so interested in my work and I hope to come back next year with more results”.
